How to choose an electrician.
What to ask before you hire, from Rocky.
Licensed electricians for panels, rewiring, EV chargers and renovations. Use this checklist when you compare electricians, then ask Rocky if you want a second opinion.
- Electrician is a compulsory trade in Alberta: the person doing the work must be a certified journeyperson or a registered apprentice.
- Ask who takes out the electrical permit.
- Get at least two written quotes that list scope, materials, schedule and payment stages.
- Contractors who take money before the work is finished need an Alberta prepaid contracting licence. Ask for the number before you pay a deposit.
- Ask for a WCB Alberta clearance letter and proof of liability insurance.
- Read recent reviews and ask for references from jobs like yours.
